Boys tennis vs Glacier Peak and Mountlake Terrace

On September 26th, the varsity team was at Glacier Peak and the JV was at home and both teams were swept by the powerful Grizzlies in straight sets.

Photos from the JV match are posted HERE.

Two days later, both teams played at home against Mountlake Terrace and both teams were at full strength.

In JV action the Wildcats got their first team win of the year, nipping the Hawks 4-3.  Due to time constraints, there was only one long set played at each level.

Winners were Isaac Deleon at 2nd singles, 8-1; Caleb Byers at 3rd singles 8-2; Alex Smith at 4th singles 8-5; and Max VanDam and Matt Hallahan at 2nd doubles 8-1.

For the varsity matches, it was the doubles teams that made the difference in the Wildcats' 5-2 victory.  Oak Harbor split the singles matches, with #2 David Kusnick (6-1, 6-0) and #4 Harrison Miller (6-1, 6-0)  winning in straight sets, then swept the doubles, also in straight sets.  Tom Dale and Jacob Nelson moved to 1st doubles and won 6-3, 6-2, Sean Kelly and Jozef Mendoza at 2nd won 7-6(4), 6-3) and 3rd doubles Casiano Atienza and Antonio Unpingco won 6-3, 6-4.

Even though OH lost at #1 and #3 singles, both those matches had to go to 3 sets to determine the winner.
