Friday night the boys basketball team held their annual senior night, recognizing five departing seniors and their parents. Playing their last game in the OH gym were David Ray, Anthony Powell, Christopher Viers, Zach Jones, Ben Fikse and Jake Sturdevant. All 5 started the game.
With a playoff spot still in sight, the Wildcats had one of their best offensive nights of the season, scoring 62 points, but the 2nd place Tomahawks (8-1) were just too much for the Wildcats to handle and the'Cats fell 85-62.
Dyllan Harris scored 27 to lead the team with Jones adding 16 of his own. Powell scored 6 and, Fikse 4. Scoring 2 points each were David Ray, Sean Erskine, Jake Sturdevant and Josh Cote. Savion Passmore sank one free throw.
The varsity boys have one game remaining, Tuesday the 10th at 4th place Everett. A win would give both teams 4-7 records, but an OH win would give the 'Cats the tiebreaker over Everett for the playoffs.
The JV squad struggled on offense early, scoring only 5 points in the 1st period. While they scored 20 in the 3rd, a 7-point 4th quarter gave MP a 63-45 win.
Taeson Hardin led the team with 12 points, Bryce Diras and Princeton Lollar scored 8 each, Ty Baker 7, Adam Nelson 6, Eli Loera 2 and Justin Ellison 1.
For the freshmen, it was oh-so-close, falling 56-55.
Photos from the varsity game are posted HERE. Sorry, no JV or Freshman photos this time.
