Wrestling 2015-02-14 - Regional tournaments

When the Regional wrestling tournaments started Saturday morning, 8 Wildcat athletes hit the mat.  At the end of the day, 6 were going on to State.

Starting with the girls, Meredith Bain didn't have a good day and was pinned twice.

Amber Cramsey-Behnke got a pin in her first match, got pinned in the 2nd (by the eventual champion), won her 3rd match but lost her final match 6-4.  Amber finished in 4th place and will be wrestling in the Tacoma Dome this weekend.

For the boys, Christian Bertram is your 120lb Region 1 Champion, getting a pin in his first bout, won 6-0 in the 2nd then beat Everett's Joel Delgadillo 12-6.  Christian is in the #1 spot in the state brackets.

At 138 lbs, Jeremy Vester won his first 9-1, his 2nd 11-4, the lost to Stanwood's West Weiner 4-3 in the championship match, finishing in 2nd place.

Mark Johnston, at 145 lbs, won by pin in his first match, lost by pin with just 5 seconds to go in his 2nd match (by the eventual champion), then won 7-4 and 7-6 to capture 3rd place.

Nate Mecom, the only non-senior for the Wildcats at the tournament was pinned in both his matches.

285lb class #1 seed Jackson Constant won by pin, then won 3-1 to set up his championship match against Mosese Fifita from Glacier Peak, where he was pinned and finished 2nd.

Tyler Adamson lost his first match 5-2 to Erdenbayer from Shorewood, came back by winning 9-3 and 3-2 to face Erdenbayer again in the 3rd/4th place match.  This time Tyler was pinned, but will be going to state next weekend.
