Girls Tennis

Monday's match against Lynnwood was postponed due to rain, but Wednesday's match with Meadowdale went on under warm weather and sunny skies.

Three of the four singles matches went to 3 sets, but Oak Harbor was able to capture only one victory, Alexa Holmly winning at 4th singles 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. First singles Cady O'Dell had a long, close match before falling 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 and Shannon Neilon lost 7-5, 5-7, 1-6.

Meadowdale won all the doubles matches in straight sets and won both exhibition matches.

The varsity girls got back on the winning track Thursday with a non-league match at Arlington. Cady O'Dell won 6-3, 6-4, Clarissa Abadesco won 6-0, 6-1 and Shannon Neilon won 6-0, 6-7(4), 6-2. The Wildcats picked up one double win, the pair of Molly Van Dam and Jen Fremd, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to capture the day's event 4-3.

Finally, on Friday, the varsity girls made up Monday's rained-out match against Lynnwood. Out of 7 scoring matches, Oak Harbor won 6 in straight sets, and won the 7th in 3 sets, completing the sweep of the Royals.

1st singles Cady O'Dell didn't let her opponent win any games in her 6-0, 6-0 win. #2 Belen Cifuentes allowed her opponent 2 games in the first set and none in the 2nd, winning 6-2, 6-0. Clarissa Abadesco won 6-1, 6-1 and Shannon Neilon 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles action, the 1st doubles team of Jordan Faralan and Alexa Holmly lost a very close 1st set 6-7(5) before winning the next two 7-5, 6-3. Shoko Yamaguchi and Cassie Gianino won 6-3, 6-2 and Kelli Travenetti and Jen Fremd won 6-0, 6-2.

The tennis teams take Spring Break off, then get back into action on April 5th with the varsity team at home against Shorecrest.
