Middle School Wrestling - @ Burlington and @ Mt. Baker

The Wildcat United wrestling team got in a lot of wrestling this week with two double dual meets, one against LaVenture and Burlington at Lucille Umbarger Elementary School in Burlington, and the second against Mt. Baker and Cascade at Mt. Baker Middle School in Mt. Vernon.

Although Wildcat United as a team lost by a single point in the dual vs LaVenture on March 8th, several wrestlers earned big wins. Vester, Altman, Johnston and Gerber all won by pin, Charlesworth won by tech. fall, Billups won by major decision and Rios by decision.

Results from the second dual meet were not available.

On Friday the team traveled to Mt. Baker Middle School in Mt. Vernon to face the host team and Cascade Middle School from Sedro-Woolley.

Against Mt. Baker, the meet went quickly with only 12 total matches wrestled and all by 2 ending with a pin. Wildcat United winners were Esquela (pin), Quinday (pin at the buzzer), Cetin (pin), Vester (tech fall), Charlesworth (pin) and Cosper (pin).

It was a different story against Cascade. The Sedro team was strong and wrestled extremely well, allowing on 3 Wildcat United wins in 15 matches. Johnston won a close 7-4 decision and Parmenter and Sapanza both pinned their opponents.
