Track 2011-03-17 @ South Whidbey

The 2011 track season kicked off with the annual Whidbey Jamboree at South Whidbey High School, featuring teams from Oak Harbor, Coupeville, South Whidbey, Lakewood and Friday Harbor.

Not every event was run in the meet. Omitted were the 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay and 300m hurdles.

Oak Harbor dominated the event, with the boys winning 3 events and the girls winning 7, and showing depth by filling many of the top 10 spots.

Oak Harbor winners were Aaron Boesch in the 100, followed by Josiah Miller and Carlton Johnson in 2nd and 3rd place. Johnson also took 2nd in the 200m dash.

OH finished 1-2-3 in the 400m dash - Chris Opdyke, Conner Meyer and Mike Kincy.

In the 800m run it was Josh Schrum on top. Schrum also finished 3rd in the 1600m run

Sam Collins was the top OH finisher in the 110m hurdles, finishing 3rd.

Jeremy Foster ended in 2nd place in the shot put, followed by Dayne Herron and Boesch in 3rd and 4th.

In the Javelin, Kevawn Brooks threw over 128 feet, good enough for 2nd place

3rd in the High Jump was Cody Hernkind while Josh McVey was 2nd in the pole vault.

Finally for the boys, Josiah Miller was 2nd in the Triple Jump.

On the girls side, Janessa Ramos, Christina Alexander, Sarah Young and Jalani Bobo finished 1-2-3-4 in the 100m dash to sweep the event. Bobo went on to finish 2nd in the 200m dash

Another sweep was in the 400m dash, with Allison Duvenez, Jember Jansen and Maura McKole on top.

Addy Royal took first in both the 800 and 1600m run, with freshman Alex Laiblin coming in 2nd in the 1600.

Finishing the running results, Duvenez won the 100m hurdles.

In field events, Dominique Jackson (DJ) came just 6 inches short of winning the discus.

Alexander won the long jump and Katelyn Bristow and Chylan bass finished 1-2 in the triple jump.

Coupeville winners were Mitch Pelroy in the 200m dash, Tyler King in the 1600m run (by nearly 30 seconds) and Hunter Hammer in both the shot put and discus. Hammer won the shot put by nearly 10 feet and the discus by nearly 25 feet!

Jai'Lysa Hoskins won the 200m dash and Kyra Ilyankoff the javelin.

The only photos from this meet are the running events. At the OH home meet on Thursday, March 24th, the photo concentration will be on jumpers and throwers.
