Girls Summer League from June 18th

Both varsity teams were in action on Wednesday, June 18th. I don't have any results from Monday as nobody sent an email with any information.

The first game of the night was the Varsity Purple against Meridian HS, and it was not pretty. Meridian jumped to a 21-9 first half lead, then cruised on to beat our girls.

The second game was the Varsity White against the Burlington-Edison Rejects. This is a self-formed team from BEHS, and includes former North Whidbey MS and OH Cat player Lauren Watts. This game was all OH from the start and the girls smoked their way to a 45-15 win, and it wasn't really that close. Jennifer Jansen made her first appearance at a summer league game (she also does volleyball), and along with Nicki Mowbray scored 8 points. Jessica Denmon led all scoring with 11. Others getting on the board were Cheyenne Tubo 2, Mariah Ferguson 4, Kathryn Fisken 5, and Clarissa Abadesco 6.

Varsity purple was up again, against the same BE Reject team, but this game was much closer. It was close throughout, and the Rejects even had a lead late in the game, but the Wildcats held them off and finished on top.

At the same time, the Varsity White was playing against Meridian HS in the MV field house, and that score was even more lopsided than the BE score, with a final of 66-18. The halftime score was 41-9! I missed a few individual scores, but this is what I came up with: Denmon 24, Jansen 2, Mowbray 8, Tubo 7, Fisken 7, Ferguson 6, Abadesco 8 and Hendricksen 2.

Next up for Varsity white and both JV Purple and Gold is a tournament in Mt. Vernon this weekend.
