Football 2012-09-21 varsity vs Everett

The Oak Harbor Wildcats opened league play with a 47-7 shellacking of visiting Everett last Friday at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.

Oak Harbor struck early and often, scoring twice the first quarter and 3 more times in the second, then added two more for good measure in the second half.

Everett scoring on a 30-yard pass completion with just 2 seconds on the clock.

The Wildcats started off with a 10-yard by Sheyenne Sames set up by a 42-yard run by Fred Webster with 10:26 to go in the first quarter.  Jojo Webster intercepted Everett on their next possession and Isaiah Trower ran it in from 45 yards out.

In the second quarter it was Julan Faralan from 6 yards out after the snap for an Everett punt was low and the punter dropped a knee to the turn.  Later, Jon Lanningham picked up a loose Everett ball and turned it into 6 more points for the 'Cats with 4:36 left in the half.

Not done scoring yet, the Wildcats made it 33-0 at halftime with another score by Trower, this one from 28 yards out.

Oak Harbor continued their domination when Michael Maletto intercepted an Everett pass near midfield, then Fred Webster, with runs of 17 and 5 yards punched it in late in the 3rd to make it 40-0.

The final Wildcat score came with 4:17 left in the game when Tim Davison ran around the left side for a 1-yard score to make it 47-0.

The late Everett score made the final 47-7.

The Wildcats spend the next 3 weeks on the road, with game at Stanwood and Mt. Vernon, then a game against Marysville-Getchell at Pilchuck stadium.

The next home game for Oak Harbor is October 19th, when the Wildcats host Marysville-Pilchuck in what will likely be the WESCO 3A North championship game.  In addition to being the Homecoming game, it will also be Senior Night, when 36 seniors will spend their last night under the Friday Night Lights in the regular season.
