VB 2012-09-17 vs Arlington

Monday evening the Wildcat volleyball team hosted the Arlington Eagles, and though all 3 teams played hard, only the varsity squad came out victors.

The freshman team won game one in a big way, 25-8, but couldn't capitalized on their momentum and lost the next two games 15-25 and 21-25.

The JV Match was tight from beginning to end.  The Wildcats spotted the Eagles a 6-1 lead early, but chipped away at it to tie game one 14-14 before taking over the lead 19-16.  Ahead 24-20, the 'Cats let Arlington get 3 straight before putting it away 25-23.

Game 2 was back and forth early, until a pair of aces by sophomore Hailey Beecher put the wildcats up 18-13.  Arlington fought back and tied the game at 23.  The game was tied again at 24 and 25 before Arlington was able string together 2 straight points to win game two 27-25.

Oak Harbor grabbed an early 4-1 lead in game 3, but Arlington tied it at 5, then took a commanding lead late, 21-15.  While down, the Wildcats weren't out and went on an 8-3 run to cut Arlington's lead to just one point, 24-23, but the Eagles knocked the last point home to win the game 25-23 and the match 2-1.

Varsity wasn't close at all.  Even though the Wildcats had their share of errors, Arlington just couldn't keep up.  The Wildcats jumped to a 7-1 lead early, increasing it to 20-12 later.  Game 1 to the Wildcats 25-17.

The second game was closer, with neither team more than a point or two in the lead until freshman Claire Anderson served up a pair of aces to put OH up for good 21-12.  Game 2 to the 'Cats 25-16.

Back to form in game 3, the Wildcats rolled to an easy 25-17 victory to sweep the Eagles 3-0.
