VB 2012-09-20 vs Lake Stevens

The Wildcat volleyball team wound up preseason play hosting the Lake Stevens Vikings.

In addition to getting ready for conference play, Oak Harbor held their senior night, recognizing the seven seniors and their parents.  Playing their final season at OHHS are Taylor Nienhuis, Hannah Salmons, Kelsey Rankin, Ally McGuire, Stephanie Milliron, Roshel Muzzall and Hannah Christensen.

The Vikings swept the sub-varsity matches, beating both the JV and Freshman teams 3-0.

Things didn't look good in game one for the varsity as Lake jumped on the Wildcats early and won the game easily, 25-11.

In game 2 the Wildcats starting getting it together, and led 23-19 late, but a pair of OH hitting errors coupled with a Viking kill ended the game 25-23 and gave LS a 2-0 lead in the match.

With Muzzall at the service line, the 'Cats pounded Lake Stevens in game 3, getting an early 12-1 lead and maintaining their 10-point lead to the end, taking the game 25-19.

Showing life but with little breathing room, Oak Harbor slowly built a lead in game 4, at one point leading 15-9, but Lake Stevens did not quit and tied the game at 21 after a service ace.  4 serves later the match was over, as the Vikings took advantage of OH hitting errors and put the game away 25-21 with a kill.

Video highlights from the match are posted HERE.
