FB 2015-10-01 Freshmen vs Everett

Last Thursday the Oak Harbor freshman football team hosted Everett in their first home game of the season.

The Wildcats got on the board first.  Dorian Hardin carried the ball from about 7 yards out but was stripped of the ball just short of the goal line.  The ball bounced into the end zone where Shingo Johnston was there to jump on it for the score.  Aaron Martinez ran in a 2-point conversion to make it 8-0 with 1:19 left in the 1st quarter.

Everett responded with a 6-yard run and a pass PAT with 7:42 to go in the half to tie the game.  They added another 1-yard TD that was set up by a 45-yard pass play (the PAT kick failed).  With 2:04 to go in the 2nd it was now OH 8, Everett 14.

The two teams slugged it out for most of the 3rd quarter, but with 29 seconds left in the 3rd, Everett broke free for a 75-yard TD run to boost their led to 21-8.  A 22-yd field goal with 6:44 left in the game put Everett ahead 24-8.

Oak Harbor scored again with 2:21 left in the game, a 3-yard run up the middle by Michael Fisken.  The 2-pt PAT run succeeded, cutting the Everett lead to 24-16.

The defense held Everett on the next possession, taking over on the OH 42 with 1:22 left to play.  Unfortunately, the Wildcats were stopped and Everett left with a 24-16 win.

The freshmen are on the road next week, traveling to Arlington, then play at home on Wednesday the 14th against Getchell.
