FB 2015-10-06 Varsity vs Stanwood - Homecoming

by David Svien

Afterward, they danced the Hokey Pokey.

During their game Friday night, the Oak Harbor High School football squad just danced all over visiting Stanwood.

Crashing for an eye-popping 469 yards on just 32 carries, the Wildcats mashed their way to an epic 49-6 Homecoming win and kept alive their hopes of getting a high playoff seed.

Now 4-2 overall, 3-1 in Wesco North play, Oak Harbor travels to Marysville-Pilchuck (4-3, 3-1) Friday, Oct. 23 to close out league play.

The visit will come one day before the year anniversary of the shooting deaths at that school which cancelled last year's match-up between the 'Cats and Tomahawks.

Oak Harbor has an outside shot at finishing in a first-place tie for the league title, but can not earn the #1 seed either way.

If the 'Cats beat Marysville, and Arlington (4-0 in league) stumbles against Everett (1-3), Oak Harbor would share the championship.

Arlington is guaranteed the #1 seed come playoff time, however.

A win and it owns sole rights to the title. In the event of a loss, they hold a tiebreaker against both Marysville and the Wildcats, having beaten both teams.

Knowing that all of that will play itself out, the 'Cats concentrated simply on one thing against Stanwood -- pounding the ball down the throats of the Spartans.

That they did, with six of their seven touchdowns covering 37 or more yards.

Princeton Lollar keyed the offense, crashing through the line for 160 yards on 16 carries, with touchdown runs of 41 and 37 yards.

He also added a 37-yard pass reception (in which most of that was his running) for a third score.

Oak Harbor spread out the rest of the night's touchdowns, with Savion Passmore (82-yard run), Mac Carr (56-yard run), Dyllan Harris (11-yard run) and Mac Nuanez (75-yard run) tallying one score apiece.

With the runners going wild, 'Cat quarterback Tyler Snavely only threw five passes, but he completed four of them for 86 yards.

Oak Harbor's defense stood strong, as well, with Harris, Diangelo McKinnet and Andrew Miller each picking off Stanwood passes.
