Wrestling update

The Wildcat wrestling team is currently ranked #11 in the state 3A rankings, with 5 individuals in the top 10 of their weight brackets.

Christian Bertram is ranked #6 at 132 pounds
Jeremy Vester is ranked #1 at 138 pounds
Mark Johnston is #3 at 160 pounds (some say one of the toughest weight classes in the state)
Jackson Constant #9 at 285 lbs
Amber Cramsey-Behnke at 235 lbs.

On December 16th, the team went to Mountlake Terrace HS for a double-dual against the host Hawks and the Meadowdale Mavericks, winning both.

Versus Meadowdale, the Wildcats collected 3 forfeits (Pennington, Houchin and Stahl), 6 pins (Bertram, Lym, Vester, Aketch, Johnston and Constant) and a tech fall (Piper) against 3 pins and a tech fall to win 59-23.  All of the Oak Harbor pins were in the first round, with Johnston needing only 42 seconds to pin his opponent.

In the 53-22 victory over Mountlake Terrace, add Piper to the list of matches won by forfeit, and give Bertram, Johnston and Constant their 2nd pins of the night. Lym and Vester both got their 2nd win of the night and Mecom got his first.

This past weekend the team went to Bellingham for the annual Graham Morin tournament at Squalicum HS.  As a team, the 'Cats finished in 4th place with 127 points.  Port Angeles won the tournament with 236.5 points.

Vester and Johnston were both champions, with Vester winning 9-4 in his championship match at 138 lbs.  Vester was also named tournament MVP.

Johnston won his championship match at 152 lbs by a 15-0 tech fall.

Jackson Constant finished 2nd, falling 17-5 in the championship bout.

Tyler Adamson, Christian Bertram and Robert Pennington all finished in 3rd place.

Nathan Mecom, Brycin McIntyre and Sam Zook all finished in 6th place.

The Wildcats have the first of only 3 home meets on January 8th, against #9 ranked Marysville-Pilchuck.
