Middle School Track 2014-05-07 at OHHS

Wildcat United held their first home meet of the year on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at Oak Harbor High School, hosting LaConner, Concrete and Mt. Vernon Christian and the Wildcats cleaned up at the podium.

7th grade boys won 7 of the 13 events and produced two double winners.  Rydell won both the 800 and 1600m races and Fisken won the discus and shot put.  WU produced a total of 115 points against 50 for LaConner and 15 for MVC.

The 7th grade girls won 10 of their 13 events.  Dubuque was a double winner, taking both the 800 and 1600m run, and WU won both the 4x100 and 4x200m relays.  The Wildcats scored 121 team points, Concrete was 2nd with 19.

Discus was the only event not won by the 8th grade boys, and there were several multi-winners.  Carr won the 100 and 200m dash, Wood the 400 and the Hurdles and Nuanez the 1600 and High Jump.  Team totals were WU 164, LaConner 27

Finally, the 8th grade girls won 9 events, and amassed 132 points and concrete was 2nd with 21.  Flack picked up wins in both the 800 and 1600m run, and WU won both the relays.

Photos are posted HERE.  The majority of the photos from Wednesday's meet are of girls javelin, boys discus, boys and girls high jump, boys and girls 1600m run and the boys and girls 4x200m relay.

The next meet puts the Wildcats up against the same schools, and Anacortes, as the team travels north on Monday, May 12th.

WU returns home on May 15th, hosting Lopez, Mt. Vernon and Burlington.

The middle school track finals will be held at OHHS this year, on Wednesday, May 28th.

There will be a need for volunteers to help run both home events.  Contact Barb Cobb at OHMS, 279-5300, if you want to help out.
