Track - WESCO Championships

As usual, the 2-day league championship meet was full of highs and lows.

The boys team, while finishing 8th out of 10 teams in point totals, produced two league champions.

Dejon Devroe won the 400m dash with a prelim time 51.69, then went on to better the time in the finals with a 50.16, his best ever.  He was nearly a half-second ahead of the 2nd place finisher.

John Rodeheffer is also league champ, winning both the 1600 and 3200m races.  His time of 4:23.41 in the 1600 is a new personal record for him.

Rodeheffer and Devroe were the only Wildcat finishers in the top 5 for the boys.

The girls also finished 8th of 10 teams but did not produce any individual winners.  The highest girls finish was Alex Laiblin who was 2nd in the 3200m run.

Several other girls finished in the top 5 in their events.  Jonalynn Horn was 5th in both the 1600 and 3200m run, Taylor Deconzo was 4th in both the Shot put and Javelin, and one relay team, the 4x100 (Janae Payne, Sierra Seabolt, Kiesha Watts and Jinai Guzman) finished 5th.

Next up is the District 1 meet at Shoreline Stadium, which is all the WESCO 3A teams plus Ferndale.  That meet takes place on May 21st and 23rd.
