The boys golf team started their season with the 4-team Purple Cup at the Whidbey Golf & Country Club. Unlike Monday's girls match, the weather was pleasant, with only a mild wind and a fair amount of sun.
At the end of the first 9 holes, senior Phil Reedy was tied for 2nd place with a 35, just one stroke behind the leader. Judd Ford was just two strokes behind Phil and Brandon Kenworthy carded 43. The Wildcat were in 3rd place, just 3 strokes ahead of 4th place Lake Stevens at the end of the first 9 holes, and 23 strokes behind leader Kamaik.
On the back nine, Judd Ford and Matt Fikse both did much better, with Judd scoring a 34 - the best of all 24 golfers, while Matt was 7 strokes better, carding a 41. In the end, Judd and Phil tied at a 1-under-par 71, and tied for the days' best score. Brandon Kenworthy scored an 84, Matt Fikse 89 and Luke Felkner 95. Logan White just couldn't get things going that day, scoring a 113.
As a team, Oak Harbor scored a 410 while first-place Kamiak scored 389, followed by Snohomish with 391.
The next boys golf match is a JV match at Stanwood on the 24th and a varsity match at Everett on the 26th. The next home match is April 9th at the Whidbey Golf & Country Club.
