Softball 3-26 Snohomish

Snohomish was at the softball fields at Hillcrest Elementary on Thursday and came away double winners.

The JV game ended early via the 10-run rule, but there were some highlights for the OH girls. Emily Hunt pitched 5 strong innings, recording 5 strikeouts and giving up only 2 earned runs. Alyssa Siwa went 1-2 and Angie Akins had her 2nd double in as many games.

Coach Showalter said Snohomish has a solid JV squad, hitting the ball well, but what really hurt the JV effort were errors in the field, and he wants to get that solved soon.

Kayla Ratliff went the distance for the Wildcat varsity team, recording 5 strikeouts and only 1 walk. The first inning was scoreless, but Snohomish scored 3 runs in the 2nd and 3rd, then another 2 in the 6th to go up 5-1. Things started looking up for the 'Cats in the bottom of the 6th as Ratliff hit a solid double, then Nikki Mowbray smacked a double of her own to drive Ratliff in. However, that was it for the OH scoring, then Snohomish scored 4 in the top of the 7th to put the game away.

In addition to her RBI double, Mowbray hit a single and went 2-3 for the day, and Kaylee Meders also hit a double.

Coach Weikle was pleased that the girls never gave up. "Our hitters couldn't get around on the pitchers and we made errors in the field", and "that combination doesn't equal a win" she said. The team will be working on timing pitchers, building confidence at the plate, and "WANTING the ball to make outs in the field".

A total of 99 photos from the JV and Varsity games are posted HERE.
