Middle School Girls Basketball - OHMS vs Cascade, 3-11

The Oak Harbor Middle School Panthers faced off against the Cascade Kodiaks of Sedro-Woolley last Wednesday and came away with a double win.

In the 7th grade game, it was all Annie Leete, as she scored all 9 of the team points as the girls jumped to a 9-4 first period lead. Annie added another 7 in the 2nd, increasing the lead to 20-11 at halftime. In the 2nd half, Jamie Estrella scored 5 points and Matty Ching added 4 as the Panthers cruised to a 42-28 win.

Annie led all scoring with 25 points; Jamie added 7 and Matty 4. Kyla Bernardo, KC Winfield and Makenzi Schulle scored 2 points each.

Full results of the 8th grade game are not available, but it was a close first half, with the Panthers holding a slim 16-14 lead. Cascade grabbed the lead 2 minutes into the 3rd period, but some great post play by Kelsey Rankin tied the game at 18, and another basket gave OHMS the lead halfway through the 3rd. Rankin 7 of 10 team points in the 3rd, and strong team defense put pressure on Cascade resulting in many turnovers. In the end, OHMS won 39-26.
