After breezing through preseason games, the Wildcats are now finding it hard to put runs on the board and keep opponents from doing the same.
Hosting Stanwood last Tuesday, the ‘Cats had only a single hit, by Lauren Miller, and gave up 8 runs. Coach Weikle says that only 2 Spartan runs were earned, the rest scored due to fielding errors, and that “as a team, we killed our pitcher and catcher again”. She wants the girls to “get angry and pumped up during the games” and “back each other up”.
On the plus side, shortstop Kaylee Meders had a great game with no errors, 8 putouts, and assisted on preventing a stolen base.
Wednesday’s game against Arlington was similar, with OH allowing 11 Arlington runs while scoring only 1 of their own.
