Youth Soccer 4-18 @ Ft. Nugent Park

It was another fun-filled morning at Ft. Nugent Park as literally hundreds of children filled the soccer fields from 9am until well after noon.

The Oak Harbor Sports report was able to get photos of 7 different games, mostly U-6 teams.

First up was the U-8/9 Academy team “Spirit” vs the U8 Red Tigers. Spirit was by far the better team, but the Tigers never gave up, and scored several goals of their own. 61 images from this game are posted HERE.

Next was the GU-6 Purple Porcupines vs the Orange Cupcakes. There was a lot of action and a lot of scoring in this game, and it was a pleasure to watch the girls really go after the ball. 76 photos are posted HERE.

Another pair of GU-6 teams, the Red Ladybugs, sponsored by the Doodlebug Academy on NE Harvest St in Oak Harbor faced off against the Light Blue Bluebirds, sponsored by the Posh Salon on Pioneer Way. Again, it’s nice to see kids outside on a nice Saturday morning and not sitting in front of a TV all day! 35 photos from this game are HERE.

The first boys game we took photos of was the BU-6 Purple Raptors and the Red Volcanoes. The boys game is more aggressive than the girls, but there was still a lot of running back and forth chasing after the ball. 50 photos are HERE.

Another boys game was the BU-6 Maroon Sharks vs the Green Leprechauns. Their photos (64 of them) are posted HERE.

Still with the boys, the next games were the BU-12 rec teams Inferno (in red) and Dynamo (in light blue). Inferno is sponsored by the Oak Harbor Elks Club and Dynamo is sponsored by the North Whidbey Soccer Academy. The game was close, but in the end, Dynamo came out on top 5-3. 37 photos are posted HERE.

In the final game covered before the memory card was filled up, the GU-6 Pink Panthers, sponsored by Kathi Phillips of Re/Max Real Estate, and the Yellow Tigers. This was another fun game to watch, and their 76 photos are posted HERE.

Next week we'll work on getting some U-8 and U-10 teams.
