Girls Tennis update - 2015-04-05

The Wildcat girls tennis teams had only two scheduled matches this past week, and one was canceled due to rain.

On March 31st the varsity team went to Stanwood while the JV girls hosted.  No individual results were available for the JV matches, but the team as a whole fell to the visiting Spartans 5-2.  The loss drops the JV squad to 1-1 in league play.

At Stanwood, the normally strong Spartans struggled against a scrappy OH squad before winning the team score 4-3.

Oak Harbor won both 1st and 2nd singles in straight sets, with Kenzie Perry winning 6-4, 6-1 and AnnaBelle Whitefoot winning 6-3, 6-3.  Alyssa Eden got the other singles win in 3 sets, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Wildcats almost captured the win when the 3rd doubles team of Erina Korikawa and Emma Lerch took their opponents to 3 sets, but fell 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.

Next for the tennis teams is a long break from competition.  The girls return to play on April 14th with the junior varsity at home against Pilchuck and varsity away.

The varsity squad returns home on April 15th for a league match against Arlington, then hosts island rival South Whidbey on April 20th.

Photos from the JV match are posted HERE.
