Soccer update 2015-04-21

There has been lots of soccer these past two weeks, with varsity picking up a big league win.

Back on April 6th, the Wildcats hosted the Everett Seagulls, and while the JV squad fell 1-0, the varsity squad got a soul-warming 3-1 victory.

Ramon Acosta got the scoring started, then Dakota Powers added a penalty kick.  The final OH goal was by Alex Waner.

Two days later the teams were down in King County to take on Shorecrest at Shoreline Stadium.  There, the JV squad fell 5-1 and varsity 3-0.

Returning home on the 14th to face state-ranked Shorewood, the JV squad did not have a good day, falling 7-0.  In the varsity game, it was all Oak Harbor for 75 minutes as the 'Cats outplayed the visitors.  After a scoreless first half, JJ Mitchell found the net halfway through the 2nd half and things were looking good for the 'Cats.

Until the last 5 minutes.  A foul called on Oak Harbor inside the box set up a Shorewood penalty kick which was good, tying the game 1-1.  In the sudden death OT period, Shorewood woke up and played stellar ball, knocking in a goal with less than 1 minute left in the 1st OT, securing the 2-1 victory.

Friday the 17th, the two teams traveled down to Marysville where both teams fell to Pilchuck by 1-0 scores.
