The Varsity girls played 3 times last week, against South Whidbey, Getchell and Everett, but getting only a single team win for their efforts.

Against South Whidbey on a nice sunny day, the varsity squad swept the singles matches and picked up a win at 3rd doubles for the 5-2 win.  Kenzie Perry won 6-2, 6-4, AnnaBelle Whitefoot came back after struggling in her 1st set to win 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.  Tamia Rios won 6-0, 6-1 and Alyssa Eden 6-1, 6-2.  The 3rd doubles team of Elyssa Bonganay and Lauren Aspery won 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 and the 2nd doubles squad of Erina Horikawa and Emma Lerch put up and epic fight before falling 6-1, 6-7(3), 6-3.  In an exhibition match, Elma Marie Empinado won 8-5.

At Getchell on Tuesday, the 'Cats opened play with a chance to knock the Chargers out of 3rd place in the team standings and take it themselves, but Getchell had other ideas, sweeping all the doubles matches and allowing on the Wildcats' 3rd and 4th singles players to get a win.  Rios won 6-1, 6-2 and Eden on 6-0, 6-1.  OH won both exhibition matches, with Lauren Aspery and Emily Black teaming up to win 9-7 and Empinado teaming with Julia Smith to win 8-2.

Friday the varsity girls were on the road again, this time at Everett and lost by the closest 4-3 margin.  The Wildcats won 3 of 4 singles matches (Perry, 6-1, 6-4, Whitefoot 7-5, 6-0 and Rios 6-3, 6-4), but couldn't get a doubles win for the team victory.  Exhibition matches again went to the Wildcats, with Emily Black and Aelizah Espiritu winning 9-7 and Brianne Deguzman winning 6-4.

Weather permitting, there are 4 scheduled matches remaining, with 3 at home.  The varsity team hosts Stanwood on Tuesday the 28th, Pilchuck on the 29th and Getchell on May 5th.  They travel to Arlington on May 4th.
