The Oak Harbor tennis squads had most of spring break off, but played a pair of matches last week.
On Tuesday the 14th, the varsity girls squeaked out a close 4-3 win at host Pilchuck with two wins each in singles and doubles.
The singles winners were #1 Kenzie Perry (6-2, 6-4) and #2 AnnaBelle Whitefoot (6-1, 6-1).
For the doubles it was #1 Hannah Gluth and Ellysa Bonganay winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 and #2 Ria Bains and Patrice Woodworth winning 6-0, 6-0.
The next day at home, the 'Cats picked up another 4-3 win, this time over Arlington, picking up 3 wins at singles and one in doubles.
Singles winners were Perry (6-3, 4-6, 6-4), Whitefoot (6-4, 6-2) and #4 Alyssa Eden (6-2, 6-0). #3 Tamia Rios was forced to withdraw in the 2nd set due to an injury.
The doubles winners were the #3 team of Erina Horikawa and Emma Lerch, who won 6-2, 6-2.
The girls play island rival South Whidbey at home on Monday the 20th, then hit the road on Tuesday (Getchell) and Friday (Everett). The JV team plays the same teams on the same days, but at the opposite location.
While the varsity team played only twice this past week, the JV squad hit the court 3 times.
On Tuesday the 14th, they swept visiting Pilchuck 7-0, then lost a 4-3 match at Arlington on Wednesday before pounding Mt. Vernon 6-1 on Thursday.
