BBB 2015-01-19 vs Ferndale

Sophomore Adam Nelson brings the ball upcourt

Making up a game that was originally scheduled for December, the Wildcats hosted the Ferndale Golden Eagles on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Things did not go well for the Wildcats.

Over in the dome, the Freshman squad went scoreless in the 1st period, but scored 12 in the 2nd to trail 16-12 at the half.  The team played evenly after that, but the 'Cats again couldn't make up ground and fell 45-37.  Matt Jones led the team with 14 points, Ozell Jackson scored 8, Gabe Salinger 5, Joseph Arinaza 4, Jordan Bell 3, Weston Whitefoot 2 and TJ Passmore 1.

In the main gym, the JV team fell behind 15-7 in the first, but behind 15 made free throws, closed the gap to just 3 points, 30-33 at the half.  Unfortunately, in the 3rd period, Ferndale went hot as the Wildcats went cold.  The Golden Eagles outscored Oak Harbor 27-9 in that period to take a 60-39 lead.  The chill on Oak Harbor continued to the 4th, where although the 'Cats scored 7 points, there were all from the free throw line.  Ferndale wound up winning 70-46.

Over half the JV points came from the line, as the team scored 26 points on 41 attempts from the line.

Ty Baker led the team with 11 and Taeson Hardin was also in double figures with 10.  Adam Nelson ended with 8, Bryce Diras and Kurtis Zylstra 6 each and Justin Ellison 3 with James Lage and Princeton Lollar each scoring 2.

In the varsity game, Dyllan Harris was again sharp from the line, sinking 7 of 10, but the 'Cats fell 82-51.  Harris finished with 20 points, Ben Fikse, Preston Rankin and Sean Erskine each with 6, Bryce Diras 4, Josh Cote and Jake Sturdevant 3 each, Zach Jones 2 and Diangelo McKinney 1.

Varsity photos are posted HERE.

The boys have a pair of home games coming up.  1-2 Everett comes to town on Thursday the 22nd and 3-0 Stanwood on Tuesday the 27th.
