Wrestling 2015-01-17

On Saturday, January 17th, the Wildcat sent 5 girls to the Burlington Women's tournament at Burlington-Edison HS, with 3 of them reaching the podium.

In the 105 lb weight class, Isabel Garcia got a pin in her first match, then fell in her 2nd.  In the consolation bracket, she won her way to a 5th/6th match by virtue of a pin and a 7-0 win.  In the final match she was injured and forced to default, placing her 6th for the day.

At 130 lbs, Patrice Woodworth lost her first 0-14, won her second by pin, but lost by pin in her 3rd match and did not place.

Her sister, Caitlin Woodworth (140 lbs), had the best Wildcat finish for the day.  She had a bye for the first round, won by pin in the 2nd before fallin 11-14.  In the 3rd/4th place match she won 4-2 for the 3rd place finish.

Alyssa Ratchford lost by pin in both her 155 lb matches and did not place.

Meredith Bain, in the 170 lb bracket lost by pin in her first match, but scored two pins of her own ti capture 5th place.

The entire team will be in action this coming Friday, as the Wildcats host Everett, with 7 wrestlers ranked in the top 12.  A key matchup should be at 152 lbs with Mark Johnston (#7) taking on #4 Christian Bagdadi.
