BBB 2015-01-27 vs Stanwood

Taeson Hardin scored 21 in the JV game

Tuesday night was a rematch of the first league game of the season as the Wildcats hosted Stanwood to start the second half of league play.

In the dome, Stanwood jumped to an early lead and never looked back, beating the Wildcats 52-35 (the first meeting was a 67-59 Spartan win).

The JV squad vastly improved it's offensive performance, scoring only 22 points in the first meeting.  In the rematch, it was Stanwood 82, Oak Harbor 57.  Taeson Hardin led the squad with 21 points, while James Lage (12) and Ty Baker (11) were also in double digits.  Also scoring were Justin Ellison with 6, Garren Guerrero with 5 and Kurtis Zylstra with 2.

While the varsity result was a Wildcat loss, the 'Cats improved both offensively and defensively.  After playing even for most of the first quarter, the Spartans went on a run and led 26-14 at the first buzzer.  Again Oak Harbor closed, but again Stanwood was able to pull away, eventually winning 82-57.

Dyllan Harris scored 19 to lead the team and Zach Jones was in double digits with 14.  Sean Erskine finished with 7, Jake Sturdevant 4, Diangelo McKinney 3, Josh Cote 2 and Anthony Powell and Ben Fikse with 1 each.

Even with the loss, the Wildcats still have a shot at the playoffs.  Of the remaining four games, two are teams Oak Harbor beat in the first half of the season.  Beat them both again and the should finish in 4th place and could grab a playoff spot.

There is just one more home game, next Friday, Feb 6th against Marysville-Pilchuck, and before the game the seniors and their parents will be recognized.  Come out and support your classmates!
