BBB 2015-01-22 vs Everett

A decent-sized crowd cheers for the Wildcats.
Donning throwback uniforms from the year 2000, the Oak Harbor boys basketball team made use of them beating visiting Everett 72-69 in overtime.

Everett started hot, building a 19-13 1st quarter lead, but Oak Harbor chipped away at the gap in the 2nd.  At halftime, the 'Cats were down by only 2 points, 34-32.  In the 3rd, scoring by five different players boosted Oak Harbor to a 53-49 lead.  The teams went back and forth, with Everett leading 64-62 with 19.2 seconds left in the game.  Oak Harbor got the ball back and drove down court.  Zach Jones went in for the layup, was jostled but not fouled and the ball bounced off the rim.  Dyllan Harris was right there for the putback to tie the game with 6/3 seconds left.  A last-second Seagull shot bounced off the rim.

In overtime. Everett scored first, but Oak Harbor took the lead for good with 1:05 left in OT, when a perfectly executed inbounds play resulted in a bucket which made the score 70-68.  With just 12 seconds left and the score 71-69, the Seagulls resorted to fouling the 'Cats to stop the clock.  While OH made only one free throw, the defense prevented Everett from scoring to secure the victory.

Harris finished with 23, Diangelo McKinney 14 and Sean Erskine 12.  Ben Fikse scored 6, Jones 5, Jake Sturdevant 4, and Savion Passmore, Anthony Powell, Preston Rankin and Josh Cote 2 points each.

The Wildcats have just 2 home games remaining this year and are in the hunt for a playoff spot.  The 'Cats host the 11-4 Stanwood Spartans on Tuesday the 27th and 11-4 Pilchuck on Friday, Feb 6th.

There are 3 away games remaining as well, at Arlington, Getchell and Everett.

The JV boys got off to a slow start, scoring only 4 points in the 1st period, but came back to tie the game 26-26 at the end of the 3rd period.  A rain of 3-point bombs by the Seagulls proved the difference as Everett held on to win 46-38.  Taeson Hardin scored 12 to lead the team, Ty Baker finished with 8, James Lage 6, Princeton Lollar 5, Bryce Diras 4 and Adam Nelson 3.
