Youth Basketball 2015-01-10

The winter SWISH league in Skagit County opened this past Saturday, and this year Oak Harbor has 5 boys team entered.  Two in the 5th grade bracket and one in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Saturday's games were all for seeding purposes and Wildcat teams saw a lot of success, winning 4 of the 5 games.

Starting at 10:05am at Skagit Valley College, the 8th grade team got off to a fast start against Mt. Baker, but stumbled a bit in the 2nd half, allowing their opponents to close, but Oak Harbor carried the day with a 34-30 win.

At the same time in the next court over, the 5th grade Purple team was playing one of two Arlington 5th grade teams.  Oak Harbor had some offensive difficulties early on and couldn't close the gap, falling 25-13.

At 11:15 the 7th grade game got underway at Mt. Baker MS, facing Friday Harbor.  This game was all OH as the boys cruised to a 33-12 win.

Right after the 7th grade game, the 6th graders hit the court against the Bellingham Hoopsters.  Oak Harbor got the early lead and although the Hoopsters closed a bit in the 2nd half, the Wildcats won 43-33.

Finally, at LaConner Elementary School the Purple 5th grade team played the other Arlington 5th grade team and used a combination of size and a stiff defense to win 18-8.
