JV tournament results from Saturday, Jan 9th.

On Saturday, January 3rd, the JV wrestling team went to Arlington HS for a double-elimination tournament, and results are in.
Tina Alter, coming off an injury, beat the other two girls in the tournament, one in a higher weight class to take home 1st place. She pinned the first girl in 3:30, the won a close 6-5 match for the championship.
Alec Castillo pinned Winston of Monroe in 2:42 then beat Bates of Squalicum 9-5 and Evans of Cascade by pin in 1:57 to go undefeated.
Gabe Dye pinned his first two opponents, Dorscher of Meadowdale in 1:42 and White of Mariner in 1:50. There was some controversy in the final match when Gabe got pinned in just 8 seconds, but the referee’s ruling stood.
Nick Farrell won his first match, against Mariner’s Regcondia by pin in 2:18, but lost his 2nd match by pin to Carlin of O’Dea. He recovered and won his final match, tech falling Pedroza of Stanwood 15-0.
Collin Higinbotham was also a 3-match winner. He started by defeating O’Dea’s Carlin by pin. He then had two quick matches, pinning Candia of Stanwood in 1:18, and Kovich in 1:16.
Tucker Lundstrom lost his first match to Jess of Everett 6-2, then beat Palumbo 9-2 before falling to Auburn’s Burger 9-5.
Josh McVey was a two-match winner, beating Scalante of Everett in the 1st round by a 6-3 score, lost to Hernandez of Auburn, then won 4-1 over White of Mariner.
Josh Schrum lost his first by pin, then won a close 6-5 match over Perales of Meadowdale then pinned Poldatz of Burlington in 3:53.
Brandon Strickland had a bye in the 1st round, then lost 9-0 in the 2nd but pinned his final opponent in 2:23.
Brandon’s younger brother, Jaron lost his first and pinned Lubug of Lynnwood in 3:54 in the final match. There is no score in the scorebook for his 2nd round match.
Finally, Jesse Tucker (JT) is only in the scorebook once, wrestling Winnie of Monroe, pinning him in an unrecorded time.
2 OH wrestlers went winless in the tournament.
The wrestling team has a home meet this Wednesday, Jan 7th against a tough Arlington team and another home meet on Friday, Jan 9th against Stanwood. Come on out and show your Wildcat Pride!!!
