Timeout with...Justine Bortolameotti - girls basketball

Justine Bortolameotti is a senior exchange student, here from Belgium and member of the varsity basketball team. The 5’2” wing was born in Brussels, Belgium on April 24th, and had been in Oak Harbor since August. Justine has lived in Belgium her entire life, except for her time here in Oak Harbor. She is the daughter of Barbara, who works in a pharmacy, and Jean-Paul, a manager in the electronics industry. She has a twin sister, who is also in the USA as an exchange student, but is in Indiana. She was very happy over Christmas, as her sister came to Oak Harbor so they could spend the holidays together.

Here at OHHS, her favorite class has been Photography with Mrs. Ottenbreit. She’s especially attracted to the wealth of elective classes available in American schools, as most of them are not available to her in Belgium.

Justine played basketball back in Belgium, and last year her team won the league championship. Here, her goal is to be a good teammate and get some playing time, and to improve her English skills, which are quite good already.

When not at basketball practice or doing her homework, Justine enjoys watching the NBA or soccer on TV. She doesn’t watch much TV outside of sports, but really enjoys watching movies, both French and English, with one of her favorites being “Coyote Ugly”.

After she is done with her schooling, Justine thinks she would like to get into business, perhaps following in her fathers’ footsteps. She would like to live in France, especially Paris, or return to the United States.
